    MicroMan 1 Empty MicroMan 1

Post by Alex R Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:21 am

As you will see above, there are three challenges.. When combined together, these give you your MicroMan time.

    What is MicroMan?

Quite simply, it is a 2 week event where you have to complete a 200m swim, 2km bike and 800m run as individual time trials. You then add the times of the three together to give you your MicroMan overall time. The swim is to be a pool swim starting in the pool (no diving), the bike is up to you, no equipment or course rules beyond those that your concience sets (not down hill or with a howling tail wind) and the run is 800m either on the track or in a straight line.

The idea of this thing is to set a base line and try and improve it over time so it is in your best interests to complete the legs in a manner that is repeatable for the future.

Who will be the world record holder of this amazing event? Post your results of combined times in this very thread for attempt 1!!!!

Is it ok to just do one of them... or will that spoil the fun? I only ask because my bike 'puter is broken (again) and I am waiting on my new toy (Garmin gadget) to arrive so I can’t really accurately do the run and bike components.

    Zoe,

I'm not sure exactly where you live/work, but there's heaps of running tracks around (ie Ballam Park in Frankston) and for your bike, Chelsea Velodrome in Edithvale for your TT is 502m long so you won't need to wait for your Garmin to arrive. C'mon you know you want to Smile

Good point, both are close to me, I was thinking of Ballam Park for the run. As for the Velodrome... aren't they for proper cyclists? Velodrome... bit scary. I am "racing at Altona on Sunday I may pop the bike into that - ya never know it may mean I come second last instead of DFL.

And you are rigt... I do want to Smile

Edithvale will be fine for you Zoe, just make sure none of the soccer crowd is around as they will give a hard time, everyone else is fine and it's usually fairly empty most afternoons / mornings.

Hoping to get there myself by this weekend

Excellent Alex. Now if its not too much to ask any chance of a belt to go with it, perhaps something with a lower case m on it?

    Run 2:47

New Clubhouse leader on 8:37. Not waiting around on the practice fairway in the hope of a playoff though. Harris and Fluro will go sub 8 based on my efforts.

Where is the "Thighs of Thunder" bike time from the forum boss????

    3:03 Swim
    2:26 Bike

    5:29 total so far.

Need a 3:07 800. Will be very close..........

One thing for certain is that I probably can slow down the bike focus for a bit while I work on the other two....

So can we improve on our splits inside the 2 week period? I think I will have another crack at the bike leg with a different bike.

Yeah mate I think so. It is all about bench marking your max effort performance at a point in time. If you can go faster do so.

well while you're at it, what about a breakdown of each leg as a percentage of the overall time? This might help illustrate which legs are strengths, and which ones might need some more work.

Not that I'm trying to make any extra work for anyone Razz
