    Testing Ideas Empty Testing Ideas

Post by Brendan D Thu Jan 21, 2010 6:55 am

I am looking to plan some tests to do about on a monthly basis to see how my training is going.

What key sessions or tests do you do to make sure your training is going as planned.

I was thinking a 10km run time trial as a run test, maybe a 1000m swim and a 40km bike. Something like that.

Is that a good idea. Not sure if they should be all out time trials or done within heart rate limits to try to simulate race pace?

I want to make sure the training is helping, hoping for some positive reinfeorcement as the plan goes along.

I think you have the swim and bike right, but I would try for a 5km TT on the track. Takes less out of you but you will still see the improvements. TT are a good way to see how you are tracking and once a month is pretty good.

Coincidentally, I did my first ever track run on the weekend.
    5000m.
I went along to Masters Athletics
    If you're in Brisbane:

Pretty low key, probably 15 in total running/race walking 5k.
I got lapped 3 times by Mr G Gossens and running partners.
It will help with your pacing too.
I slowed noticably in the last 4 laps.
Another bloke I knew split every lap within 2 seconds and came by me with 2 laps to go.

I was thinking about doing that every 6 weeks or so.
