No use in sitting around wondering.

    Challenge #1 is.....

    2km bike TT

Do it on a velodrome, Crit circuit, your driveway, whatever. 2km, flat out from a standing start. You have until Monday Dec 7 to post your result in this thread. If you have power available, post the 2km graph as well so we can compare pacing strategies. Remember where that course is because we will be revisiting it in the future. Also, this time will be used as a part of a grander challenge that I will share with you in the future.

Also, if you have a heart rate monitor, can you wear it and give us the heart rates (ave and max). Same with power, your average and normalised if posssible.

I made the first one nice and 'easy' for everyone. Expect them to get a little more interesting.

Yeah exactly that. Like I said there is a bigger picture to all of the challenges that will become part of the discussion in the future. Just need to get the fiirst round done. Expect a swim and a run of similar duration very soon.

Brisbane TT course should be on the corso starting at Orlando rd through to 3rd house after Newcastle st(according to map my ride). This is 2 k's of flat decent road with a slight down hill start to get you going.

I was going to go out to Nundah. Start on the top of the berg and then ride another lap after. Zero cars and no potholes that way.

corso is not as hot as you think.. i have been doing threshold sets there twice a week and it is caos. I would hate to be riding race wheels there

Muzz or nundah is a much more controlled environment

Same question as re the running TT at the UQ track. Can I just rock up to Nundah to do this or are there certain times it's ok?

Nundah is free for all unless booked, then the people with the booking have sole use.

This challenge suck big time. We have a three stage event at our Cycle Club that starts with a 2km TT. There is no pain like it. You actually have to pace it, believe it or not. Make sure to jump straight off your bike and do a 1km transition run on your Dean Lukin quads.

    Was going to ignore this challenge but rode past the velodrome today;

Unanderra concrete Velodrome (270m per lap)- Road bike (no tri bars)

    2:55

It was 7 laps plus 110m, and I was in strife with 3 laps to go but that is the nature of it I guess.

No HR data, but the PT had 5sec (773W), 30s (556W) and 1min (491W) whatever that means. Last day with hire PT today, so pretty useless info in terms of future reference.

Hey Dan,you certain of the distance? That is a 45km/hr average which is pretty bad arse from a standing start especially into a head wind. Smoking fast otherwise!

I reckon it should be all velodrome. A few guys are citing a headwind. Wind doesn't matter when you are riding in circles so it will be easier to benchmark over time.

I personally went end to end. The wind was pretty light when I was out there but I expect I would have had around 200m or so at the start with tail then the middle km or so cross wind with the rest sheltered behind the houses. I wanted to do it from the top of the hill but there were trucks all over the joint and had to start down the road a bit. I think that speed drop is due to that dip in front of the sewerage place.

I also would prefer a velodrome but apart from the world record, it is just for individuals to benchmark themselves over time. If I get some time and enough people start showing interest I will draw up some rules but until then it is just a bit of fun.
