gastro or food poisoning.. Empty gastro or food poisoning..

Post by Matt C Sun Dec 27, 2009 12:37 pm

I still cant work out where it came from.. but i got one of the two and it freiken sucks.

have been in bed for 3 days straight only got up only to race to the toilet. lucky my bathroom set up is simple and i can reach both the bath whilst seated on the toilet so never had to make that fateful decision! which end first!

I did a bit of reading on how to treat this stuff and got some conflicting reports from dont take drugs 'get it out of your system' to taking gastro drugs..

    anyone know whats best?

You can get anti diareaha (sp?) powder and the like. I don't know if they lessen the other effects or duration of either. I have had food poisoning a couple of times and one instance I could feel what was like poison pumping through my veins. I actually thought I was going to die. scratch

I've had a couple of nasty bouts of the runs and I just let it "run it's course"

It hurts, but, once they're gone they're gone.

I would suggest that food poisoning often only lasts a day or two because it's caused by the bugs in the food and once you have passed it, it's basically over.
If it is gastro it might last a bit longer while your body fights the infection: maybe what you have?
Don't worry about the drugs unless you need to be functional (ie more than 10m from a toilet).
DO drink loads of sports drink or Gastrolyte. A good bout will really dry you out.

so im well and truly back in good form again..

end result was 4 days of being totally bed or toilet ridden. + 2 days of sotmach cramps Sad

still unsure where it came from but my best guess was it was some from a water bug that i got from Mt Nebo State school as i refilled without running the taps.

This is my best guess. its that or the dolce a vita cafe!

keep that in mind over the holidays when your out and about in remote areas. run the water or try not to refill.
