    Training stuff. Empty Training stuff.

Post by Alex R Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:54 am

    Hi gang

I started this forum as Transitions is drifting well away from anything useful training wise and while Triathlog is still da bomb for training logging, the forum there is a little user unfriendly at times for pics and pms and editing and stuff. I thought I would fire up this bad boy as a compliment to triathlog and hopefully Fluro's mailing list.

Things I have in mind for the use here are more indepth visiting of topics. Very much anecdotal as well as scientific input is encouraged. I really want to know the 'I did this and that happpend' stuff. More along the lines of a big brain storm on stuff. Don't be shy to post your recent training findings no matter how insignificant you may think they are. Also, don't be afraid to post again if what you thought you had worked out seemed right but now you know better. There is no eating of hats going on here just a pure information exchange.

Talk about gear, sales, shops, techniques, DVDs, whatever as well. You don't have to add the *disclaimer BS either because as you read the guidelines if you have something to disclose you will. Very Happy

Now, who has the first topic of interest? I know I have a whole heap I will be unloading that I did not bother with transitions because of the hijack factor. Evil or Very Mad

    Awesome design, layout, etc.

I'll be more than happy to offload all things tri-related on here.

    G'day Plaz,

A direct link from Triathlog would be good too. What do you think?

Just a question. Is this a closed shop like Triathlog??? I kind of liked talking training stuff there as it was a member only set up. This made for a no dickhead policy. I don't bother starting threads on Trannies for that reason. I know you are more likely to get input from Harris in that environment as well.

The other issue for me is work computer access. I get Fluro's email there, but I will not have forum access. Triathlog slips under the radar though, but all other forums are barred.

    Hey Bot,
How about real names and photo upload? Gordo enforced this on Endurance Corner and I think it made a big difference when your putting the stuff you write to your real name and photo.

    Good stuff.

As much as I love transitions... could do without some of the stuff that's going on there. And the triathlog discussions have really helped me a lot lately !!

Hey good suggestions persons. The name/pic one is probably not such a bad one. I did consider originally making it an invite only forum. I think that the tone will stay much like Triathlog. Leaving it open will allow those that actually want to participate in an on topic forum the opportunity to drift in on occasion and post. There are a few I have in mind that would not bother if it were locked but I know are interested in such a concept. i will rule with a pretty heavy hand if required but I think people who sign up get the intent.

Transitions has its place no question but it is impossible to have a training related discussion on there especially a fairly informal one like we tend to have on Triathlog which is mostly studies of 1. Ihis is what I hope to cultivate. Individuals posting opinion based on their experiences that may generate discussion. Like sitting around at a mates place and talking about how you ran heaps faster the day after 10 beers. Real grass roots, bare bones stuff.

Feel free, actually feel ENCOURAGED to post completely self focused threads with your personal training stuff and outcomes to do with progression or otherwise. Also feel free to have your opinion on other peoples opinions. Discuss, analyse and surmise as much as you want.

It is under profile>preferences and there is a yes/no option there. It defaults to yes and I can't find a way to reverse that unfortunately.

You know what, I like the real name idea. I might just make it a 'suggestion' that when you register you make your username your first name followed by the first initial of your last name. It will not be compulsory but strongly encouraged.

I agree, I really like the idea of using our real names. That will definitely keep things inline long term.

Wierd. i have gone and changed the settings to allow you to change your email in your profile. It does not have to be a valid one so you can just go and remove a letter and it should stop.... hopefully. Embarassed I can't disable it globally.
